I lived in Pearsall, Texas, for several years and spent much time hunting along the Frio River.   (The deer get really big in South Texas, by the way)  Frio ("free-oh"), which means "cold,"is pronounced  properly even by us “Native” Texans (We define “Native Texan” as those whose ancestors were here 100 or more years ago - nothing ethnocentric about us Texans!).   Beginning a little north of Pearsall, the river has a rock bottom to it's source, and is a very beautiful little river with spring fed clear running cold water.  This part of the river has camping facilities along it's banks where people vacation - swimming and tubing in it's clear cold water.  George Straight says in one of his songs that he learned to swim in the Frio River.  Since he spent his growing up years in the Pearsall area, I am sure at least that part of his song might be true.

Above: The "Frio" in "chestnut"  brown shown with two shotshell slides in “saddle tan”.  I also build these shotshell slides with two shells in each loop.  The same slides could hold six revolver / rifle shell loops.

The Frio (above far left) in “walnut” and “saddle tan” is very similar to the San Gabriel (far right) and Morgan (above middle) in “dark chocolate.”  But like the Morgan,  it has a greater recurve at the throat  than the San Gabriel, and comes up to cover a little more of the cylinder area.  However, the barrel end of the holster is shaped like the San Gabriel; wider at the bottom and sewn farther across than the Morgan.  Of course this holster can also be built without any drop or barrel cant... however you like it.  Our "Frio" holsters sell for $95 each, plus tooling.

Remember, we are a full custom shop and will make minor alterations and variations of any of the designs you see, as well as original designs if you have a photo  or can describe what you would like.  There is usually no additional charge for redesigning or designing according to your desires, unless your idea takes an abnormal amount of materials or time. (I get my best ideas from my customers)

Always measure the circumference of exactly where you plan to wear the gunbelt... over the kind of clothes you will be wearing with the rig.

For all our holsters we use “heavy saddle skirting” from Hermann Oak.  This is vegetable tanned leather - the very best domestic hides, and tanned in America.

Unless your holsters are constructed using heavy skirting (at least 12 - 15 oz leather)  they will not hold their shape nor hold up to heavy use.

                 Fall Sale

Until the end of the year, when you order a double rig (2 holsters and any gun belt)...

We will either build a 3rd holster at no cost...

Or two cartridge slides (shot shell or revolver) at no cost.
